I’m honoring my dad. He passed away 5 years ago. He was a member of the 83rd. infantry division (“Thunderbolt Division”) and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Because of his color blindness he was a scout in the Ardenne Forest. People with red-green color blindness are not as easily fooled by camouflage so they make good scouts. He was shot by SS troops and sent to recuperated in London. When the war was over, was stationed in Paris where he was a guard at. a POW camp. I miss him a lot. Thanks for your service, Dad.

I am honoring my brother (US Navy) and my father, U.S. Army. My father was a pilot in Vietnam and my brother served on the Eisenhower. Both served during conflicts and both were distinguished, each in their own way; my father earning a Purple Heart and leaving as a captain. My brother earned metals, badges and advanced in rank. I am proud of their service, but more proud of their commitment and hard work. Thank you to all our service men and women, past and present. I would like to honor all those who have served including my dad who served in the Navy. Without all of them and the sacrifices they all have made we would not have the freedoms we have. I would also like to honor their families who have made sacrifices too. They go without their loved ones for long periods of time and sometimes unfortunately some give the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. To those who serve I am so grateful and I will never forget what any of them have done for this great and beautiful country. God bless them all past, present, and future.

My husband served in Iraq as well as GITMO. My father also served in the Army during the Korean and broke his neck but after being paralyzed, went on to regain full use of all his limbs. My uncles also served. I have many friends who also serve as peace officers, FBI, fireman and in many service areas. I admire them all for giving of themselves to make this country great.

This memorial day I am remembering my Grandfather Harrison West who fought in WWII in the 79th Division. He was stationed in Alsace Lorraine and helped liberate the towns there. He was shot in the neck and lived, then returned to the US and raised 6 children. He died this year on March 18th 2015 at 89 years old. We have hundreds of photos from our family because of my Grandfather. He loved photography and believed strongly in living life to the fullest (but always documenting it as he did so!)
I received my love for photography from him and I would put this giftcard right back into my photography business in honor of him.
We love and miss you Harrison West and are thankful for everything you did for our family and this country!

I honor my grandfather Paul who fought as a Bomber Pilot in WW2 and lived to take care of my brother and I when my mother became sick. He taught me what a true man is. He made sure I felt special as he saw me feeling so isolated and alone within the rest of both sides of my family. We lost him too soon to cancer but he made sure I knew who to trust my heart to. My husband Brian is a Marine veteran and served in multiple conflicts, the worst being Somalia where he was on the ground that fateful day documented in the film Black Hawk Down. He was not injured physically but suffers from ptsd and it is a terrible struggle. Still, he never forgets his brothers and sisters in arms. He gives a percentage of all sales from his small home business to homeless vets. He was one himself. He is a loving, gentle man and I am a better person for knowing him. I honor both men and all our military this memorial day and everyday. God Bless them all. Thank you all for your sacrifices.
